Ranbir Kapoor movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar surpasses the $50 billion mark at the box office on day four
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, the Holi movie starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, had its best day of sales on Saturday. After a slow start of 15.73 crore nett, the movie went on to earn 16.57 crore nett on Saturday, breaking the 50 crore barrier at the Indian box office. It has a current nett total of 53.16 crores, and on Sunday, it is anticipated to bring in a similar or higher amount.
Sharing the Saturday collections of the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar puts up a solid show on Day 4… National chains witness 68.93 percent jump, while mass circuits grow marginally… Eyes ₹70 cr+ total in its five-day *extended* weekend… Wed ₹15.73 cr, Thu ₹10.34 cr, Fri ₹10.52 cr, Sat ₹16.57 cr. Total: ₹53.16 cr. India business.”
The romantic comedy, which was directed by Luv Ranjan, also features Anubhav Singh Bassi, Dimple Kapadia, and Boney Kapoor in supporting parts. It centers on a couple who intends to split up but finds themselves in an odd predicament because nobody wants to be the first to leave the relationship. This is the first time Ranbir, Shraddha, and Luv Ranjan have worked together.
The movie received varying opinions from critics, but it appears to be doing well at the box office. In a recent interview with PTI, he expressed fear that audiences would start to gravitate toward rom-coms after having seen plenty of action films like Brahmastra and, most recently, Pathaan.
He declared, “There has been a noticeable difference in viewing since the outbreak. Perhaps action movies, expensive experiences, special effects movies, and rom-coms in general are becoming more popular. I’m interested in knowing if viewers are still giving it a try. The success of these movies is crucial to the film business since it ensures the continued existence of the genre. Otherwise, we’ll be confined to creating action movies. Sometimes, all one wants to do is go to a romantic comedy and have a good time. I hope this serves that objective.”
