Ruben Ostlund said, “I am thrilled, proud, and humbled to be trusted with the distinction of Jury president for this year’s Competition at the Festival de Cannes.” The director’s “Triangle of Sorrow,” which took home the Palme d’Or for best picture the previous year, examined ideas of privilege and beauty by taking two models on a lavish cruise and abandoning them there along with some of the crew and wealthy passengers.
