Why Marvel removed Jonathan Major’s from Loki Kang? Amid assault lawsuits
Jonathan Majors, who portrayed Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” faced a promising future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with plans for him to lead in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” set for May 2026.
However, his public firing from Marvel has nullified all his MCU projects. Initially set to be the lead antagonist in upcoming Avengers storylines, Marvel has been exploring alternatives due to Majors’ involvement in a legal case since March.
While there’s no official statement from the Avengers franchise, reports suggest that Michael Waldron, Loki’s creator, has been brought in to develop a new script for “The Kang Dynasty” without Majors in the lead role.
The 34-year-old actor, Jonathan Majors, has been found guilty by a six-person jury of assaulting his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in the backseat of a chauffeured car in March of this year. Sentencing for the case is scheduled for February 6, 2024.
Grace Jabbari, a 30-year-old British dancer, accused the “Ant-Man” actor of hitting her in the head, twisting her arm, and fracturing her middle finger.
Majors’ defense argued that Grace initiated aggression due to jealousy over a suspected message on his phone. They claimed Majors was only trying to retrieve his phone and step away peacefully. Majors himself called the police the next day after finding Grace unconscious in their Manhattan penthouse.
As the trial progressed, new evidence emerged in the form of text messages between Jabbari and Majors. In one message, Majors urged Grace not to seek medical attention for her head injury to avoid potential investigations. Despite the defense’s arguments, Majors was declared guilty by the jury, and his sentencing is set for February 6, 2024.
