Arnold Schwarzenegger steps forward to support fire relief efforts in LA
Arnold Schwarzenegger has pledged a generous $1 million donation to support fire relief efforts in Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires that have left the city in turmoil.
On Tuesday, the actor and former California governor expressed his deep sorrow over the destruction and announced his contribution to three key organizations.
“I don’t like when companies or rich people ask their fans to make their donations for them,” Schwarzenegger stated on social media. His donation will be distributed among the Los Angeles chapter of Habitat for Humanity, the California Fire Foundation, and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation.
Schwarzenegger also shared that many of his followers had reached out, asking how they could contribute to the cause. In response, he decided to sell a specially designed t-shirt inspired by the bodybuilding merchandise commonly found on the Venice Boardwalk.
“100% of the shirt’s sales will go to the same three charities as my personal donation,” he added.
Schwarzenegger’s contribution comes as part of a wave of support from Hollywood, with DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg and his wife Marilyn donating $5 million to the Motion Picture & Television Foundation. Other celebrities, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Beyoncé, Eva Longoria, and The Weeknd, along with companies such as Disney, Netflix, and Warner Bros. Discovery, have also made significant donations to aid relief efforts.
