The actor made his Bollywood debut 22 years ago with Refugee, which was also Kareena Kapoor’s first film. JP Dutta wrote and directed the love drama, which also starred Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Anupam Kher.

Several people had heard that Amitabh Bachchan’s son was filming his first role and had flocked to the sets in Bhuj, Gujarat, to see him, Abhishek recounted. He claimed that the entire celebrity cast had come to observe his work, making him nervous that they would inform his father about his bad performance.

“Initially yes, to be quite honest,” Abhishek said when asked if he felt pressured because his father was an overachiever. It was first a question of what others would say and think. I recall being on set for Refugee, my first film, and taking my first shot. And a lot of people came around him making him really nervous.
