The Kashmir Files, Darshan Kumar’s most recent film, has become one of Hindi cinema’s most successful films to date. And the actor admits that it is a weird experience for him.
“It’s turned out to be a people’s movie,” he continues, “and they’re behind it.” They have provided me with unrivalled support. My heart is overflowing with appreciation, and the hugs and tears of strangers have shaken me to my core.”

The 35-year-old played Krishna Pandit in the film, which grossed more than Rs 200 crore at the box office. The video, which was said to be a factual story of the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, drew sceptics, who claimed that it was splitting communities.

“This film is a brutally honest based on a factual event,” the actor responds. It is not anti-caste, anti-party, or anti-community. Humanity and justice are always on our minds.

Our film depicts what happens when humanity is absent. I will ask those individuals to first view the film before making a decision. Friends of many religions have sent me texts in which they cry and discuss my performance. They said that we “bring the truth to light.”

When asked how crucial this picture was in terms of his career, Kumaar said it was his most difficult job to date.
