Prithviraj Sukumaran says Pathaan can be Bollywood’s comeback

The great popularity of various regional language movies, like Kantara, RRR, and KGF 2, made 2022 stand out. Only a select few Bollywood movies, like Brahmastra, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Drishyam 2, were successful in reengaging viewers. Now, Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has spoken his thoughts on the subject by speculating that Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan may mark some sort of Bollywood comeback.

While speaking at Film Companion’s Roundtable Discussion, Prithviraj Sukumaran said, “There have been times not too long ago when we’ve set down the table & thought, ‘How are they (Bollywood) doing it? How is Hindi cinema cracking this? How are they able to open up such huge overseas markets?’ And that was not too long ago. I am not talking about the medieval ages. So, this I truly believe is a phase. There will be one big hit, maybe it’s Pathaan… It could just be one big film followed by another big film and the whole narrative will change.”

The Hindi movie Aiyyaa, in which Prithviraj and Rani Mukherji appeared, bombed at the box office. The actor was recently chosen to star in the action movie “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Shah Rukh last appeared in Brahmastra, an Ayan Mukherji film, in a cameo role. In 2018’s Zero, he played his final prominent part. The Anand L. Rai movie had a poor box office performance. After a 4-year absence, he makes a comeback with Pathaan.
