Varun Dhawan left Govinda Naam Mera, says Shashank Khaitan

• Now, Shashank Khaitan has revealed why Varun dropped out.

Vicky Kaushal’s Govinda Naam Mera will be released on OTT in 2022. Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar also star. The comedic thriller is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma. Before Sardar Udham’s Varun Dhawan, Mr Lele was cast in Govinda Naam Mera. Now, Shashank Khaitan has revealed why Varun dropped out.
Shashank told Indian Express nothing went wrong, but following the Coronavirus lockdown, everyone was rethinking their professions. “I also feel that with Varun and me, the pressure is very high when it comes to our collaboration,” the director stated. He said Vicky was right for the character before Varun left Govinda Naam Mera. Shashank stated he thought about Vicky when he originally wrote it. Actor was filming various projects at the time.
Shashank also discussed the Dulhania franchise, saying he and Varun “Casually we keep discussing Dulhania 3, when are we doing it, what are we doing…but we all are very sure also that we don’t want to take an irresponsible decision.” He wants to make sure the Dulhania series isn’t a’money machine’ and that the story resonates with the audience. He said Karan (Johar), Alia Bhatt, Varun, and he adore the franchise and won’t take it for granted.
