Deepika Padukone has expressed her desire for Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan to be a commercial success. She added that she ‘wished and prayed that it did well’ in a recent interview. Deepika hinted at the movie’s success by saying that she told Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, who is also his wife and an interior designer, that ‘these are love and blessings that are coming back’.

Shah Rukh Khan recently remarked, during a Pathaan media event, that he felt everyone wanted the movie to be successful for him, saying, “‘yeh film Shah Rukh Khan ke liye achchhi ho (Pathaan should do well for Shah Rukh Khan)”. With Pathaan’s outstanding performance at the box office after its debut, Shah Rukh had a long-awaited success. The film has already made more than $1 billion worldwide.

Deepika said, “Everyone came from the same place of wanting this man, who is part of our pop culture, to succeed. But for me, it is also my personal relationship with him that wants the best for him. I wanted the film to do well for him professionally as well as for his family.”

She added, “For a film to succeed, your intention needs to be pure. Deep down, we wished and prayed that it did well. There’s no logic to this. As I was telling Shah Rukh and Gauri (his wife), these are love and blessings that are coming back.”

In addition to John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia, and Ashutosh Rana, the movie is directed by Siddharth Anand. The film, which served as the actor’s big-screen comeback vehicle after he had been away from leading man parts for more than four years, was released on January 25 amid much anticipation and record-breaking advance bookings.

The spy played by Shah Rukh in Yash Raj Productions’ Pathaan returns from exile in order to prevent terrorist organisation Outfit X from attacking India. After Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War, all starring Salman Khan, Pathaan is the fourth film in producer Aditya Chopra’s spy universe. War also stars Hrithik Roshan.

Next, Deepika will appear in three films: Project K, starring Prabhas; Fighter, a follow-up aerial action thriller from filmmaker Siddharth Anand, starring Hrithik Roshan; and The Intern, a remake of The Intern, starring Amitabh Bachchan. Atlee’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki are two upcoming films that star Shah Rukh.
