Pathaan box office: Film crosses ₹1000 crore at worldwide

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham’s movie Pathaan have made more than $1 billion at international box offices. The movie, which debuted on January 25, is still playing in theatres. Four years after the release of his film Zero in 2018, it signified Shah Rukh’s return to the big screen. Pathaan was directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously produced the box-office smash War in 2019.

The fan is a part of the spy world created by YRF, which also includes the Salman Khan films Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai as well as the War with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. In Pathaan, Salman also appeared as Tiger, while Hrithik’s character Kabir was mentioned.

According to author Shridhar Raghavan, they want to build an entertaining spy universe with both classic and contemporary characters. He said to PTI, “Adi (Aditya Chopra) sir asked me to work on it and help design it. Our intention is to take the characters that we have already created and have further adventures with them. In these adventures, there will be a bit of crossover. Every now and then you will find these crossovers happening.”

Shah Rukh recently stated in a fan interaction on Twitter following the success of Pathaan that his personal interests are “diminishing” and he wants to chose roles that  “people would like me to play”. When asked what his favourite genre is, Shah Rukh responded, “Now I like to play what I think people would like me to play… I have evolved as an actor I think. My personal likes are diminishing.”

Shah Rukh responded to the query concerning the movie’s sequel by saying, “Not just about #Pathaan 2 but every work of mine I will announce and say it to you guys personally. Please wait for me to tell you the truth, not listen to stupid gossip!”

The following Shah Rukh film will be Atlee’s Jawan, which will hit theatres on June 2 of this year. Also in development is Taapsee Pannu’s Dunki, directed by Rajkumar Hirani.

Khan said, “I will never retire from acting… I will have to be fired… And maybe even then I will come back hotter.”
