Amitabh Bachchan sent the steel jacket gift to a fan in Saudi Arabia

• Amitabh gifts the jacket he wore in Shahenshah to a fan.

One of Amitabh Bachchan‘s more well-known performances is his role in Shahenshah. The actor had a sort of comeback in the 1998 movie, in which he portrayed both a police officer and a vigilante who hunts down criminals.

His portrayal of the grizzled vigilante with a black jacket and steel sleeves quickly established itself as a classic. The actor recently replied to a fan in Saudi Arabia who had thanked him for sending the jacket. He also said that he will share his method for getting it back with him sometime.

On Twitter, a supporter from Saudi Arabia wrote: “@SrBachchan To the legendary and one of the best actors in the entertainment world in all time, You are an honour not to India only but to the world. Thank you for the gift that you sent it means a lot.” He also sent out emojis of the Saudi Arabian and Indian flags with their hands folded.

In his response, Amitabh said, “T 4591 – My dear and most considerate friend .. I am so honored that you have received the gift of the jacket with the steel arm that I wore in my film SHAHENSHAH .. some day I shall tell you how I was able to retrieve it .. my love to you …@Turki_alalshikh.” On Twitter, admirers applauded the seasoned actor for his kind gesture while others sent get-well wishes to the ill Amitabh. One admirer said, “It is generous of you to share but shouldn’t that jacket be part of museum. It is historical.”

Director Tinnu Anand revealed Amitabh‘s professionalism on site, despite being ill for the duration of the movie, in an interview with Rediff. He’d stated, “When he was working on Shahenshah, he had a muscular disease. Even then he insisted on wearing the heavy costume — the arm alone weighed 18 kilos! He would insist on wearing it in all the fight scenes. I tried to give him a lighter uniform but he refused to wear that saying the body language changes with a lighter gear. His commitment is immense, his professionalism is absolutely total.”

Shahenshah, which Tinnu also produced and directed, also stars Meenakshi Sheshadri, Pran, Aruna Irani, Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri, and Kader Khan. Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh‘s wife, gave Shahenshah’s narrative. Inder Raj Anand was the writer of the screenplay.
