Nandita Das discloses the much-anticipated trailer of Zwigato
The highly anticipated trailer for Nandita Das’ next film Zwigato, starring Kapil Sharma, was released. The comedian admitted at the screening for the teaser that he was interested in the reason for the director’s initial interest in casting him. He claimed that Nandita was the one who informed him that even if Shah Rukh Khan had accepted the role, she would not have chosen him because the role calls for a “common face.”
In the movie Zwigato, Kapil Sharma portrays a man who works as a food delivery agent. After being fired from his job as a manufacturing floor in charge, he accepts the post. Shahana Goswami plays his on-screen wife in it as well. Furthermore playing key parts are actors Sayani Gupta and Gul Panag.
Kapil mentioned how much he connected with the story of the movie when talking about it.“I used to work at Coca-Cola. We all do small jobs here and there when we first come to Mumbai. The product was transported in trucks. There were no apps back then. But, when Nandita ma’am came to me and told me what all difficulties delivery guys face, I could relate to that story a lot.”
He expressed his interest in Nandita’s choice to place him in the first-ever food delivery agent position. “I asked her, ‘Why me?’ I didn’t know whether to take her answer as a compliment or an insult. She replied, ‘Even if global star Shah Rukh Khan would have agreed to do the film, I’d have not taken him, but chosen you because you have such a common face, it can fit anywhere in a crowd’,” so he went on to explain why he had chosen her.
According to him, Zwigato was originally intended to be a four-director anthology and was created during the Covid-19 pandemic. The movie is made by Nandita Das Initiatives and Sameer Nair of Applause Entertainment. On March 17, it will debut in theatres all throughout India.
It already had its Asian premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival after having its international premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival in September of last year. The International Film Festival of Kerala also featured Zwigato (IFFK).
