It “hurt,” according to Ed Sheeran, because Billie Eilish’s smash hit song “No Time to die” replaced his James Bond theme song.

The “Shape of You” hitmaker claimed to have “already started” writing the song when the 7-time Grammy-winning teen superstar abruptly took his position.

“They switched directors before just switching the screenplays, and that was it. I began composing it after we finished all the sessions, the 31-year-old stated on “That Peter Crouch Podcast.”

Sheeran, however, isn’t giving up on optimism just yet.

He gave a resounding “yes” when asked if he would still be willing to do a Bond theme song in the future.

“Yeah, of course,” he added. I’m not gonna pretend it didn’t hurt not doing it, but yeah I would.”

“I think eventually as an English singer you’ve got to eventually do a Bond song,” the singer said. “If they came back I’d be like, ‘Yeah, of course.’”

Eilish is the youngest artist to have ever written a song for the 007 franchise thanks to her official theme song for the movie “No Time to Die.”

The popular song took home two awards in 2022: the Grammy Award for “Best Song Written for Visual Media” and the Academy Award for “Best Original Song.”

In addition to Chris Cornell (“You Know My Name” for “Casino Royale”), Adele (“Skyfall”), Jack White and Alicia Keys (“Another Way to Die” for “Quantum of Solace”), and Sam Smith (“Writing’s on the Wall” for “Spectre”), Eilish has also written songs for the James Bond films starring Daniel Craig.

The song was co-written by Eilish and her 22-year-old brother, Finneas O’Connell, and features orchestral arrangements by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and British conductor Matt Dunkley. Legendary guitarist Johnny Marr from The Smiths performs on the song.
