Kate Middleton is a vision in royal purple
With a pretty elegant sense of style, Kate Middleton is settling into her new position as the Princess of Wales. The 40-year-old joined her husband Prince William in welcoming the president of South Africa at London’s Horse Guards Parade, marking King Charles III’s first State Visit as the monarch.
In addition to a matching hat, pointed-toe suede pumps, and some extra special jewelry, Kate chose an incredibly regal plum coat dress by one of her go-to British designers Emilia Wickstead for the ceremonial event on November 22.
The royal also wore Queen Alexandra’s renowned Three Feathers Brooch, which bears the Prince of Wales feathers emblem, in addition to a pair of diamond and pearl drop earrings that previously belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, according to the website The Court Jeweller.
The emerald drop pendant and diamond and ruby brooch were given to Queen Alexandra in 1863 upon their marriage to then-Prince of Wales King Edward VII, according to the website. Prior to her passing in 1997, Diana frequently wore the sparkler, and Queen Consort Camilla started wearing it in the 2000s.
Kate changed after the Ceremonial Welcome event into a Jenny Packham white cape gown for the State banquet at Buckingham Palace. The Lover’s Knot tiara, another one of Diana’s favorites, which featured 38 teardrop-shaped pearls hung beneath arches, gave her a very magical appearance.
