Adam Driver is seen battling a prehistoric threat in “65” trailer

Adam Driver hasn’t appeared on our screens in a science fiction setting in three long years, but that will all change with the release of his new movie 65, a science fiction thriller written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, the team behind The Quiet Place. While the full version of 65 won’t be available to viewers until March 10, the first teaser has just been made available to give us a taste of what to expect. Driver, an astronaut who discovers himself on a fascinating new world, is accompanied by a teenage girl in the trailer (Ariana Greenblatt).

As is commonplace these days, the production team for the movie teased the new trailer the day before its release to generate interest. Although the trailer only had Driver and Greenblatt in a cave with little else visible, Driver’s fans’ fantasies ran wild, with many noticing visual parallels between his character in 65 and Ben Solo/Kylo Ren, whom he most recently portrayed in 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. Although 65 is by no means a Ben Solo comeback tale, it will be nice to see Driver return to science fiction.

The driver had three movies released in relatively close order in 2021: Annette, The Last Duel, and House of Gucci. While 2022 was considerably quieter, it only saw the release of White Noise, which saw regular collaborators Noah Baumbach and Driver reunited. The movie is currently playing in cinemas with a December 30 streaming date after having its world debut at the Venice Film Festival over the summer. The driver will co-star in Ferrari with a star-studded cast that includes Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, and Patrick Dempsey in addition to 65 next year as the titular automotive tycoon Enzo Ferrari.

Greenblatt, who is only 15 years old, has a sizable list of credits already, including the Boss Baby series, Scoob!, In The Heights and Avengers: Infinity War. She will also be a part of Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated Barbie, which feels like it will star nearly the whole Hollywood elite, next year.

Beck and Woods, who also serve as producers together with Sam Raimi, Deborah Liebling, and Zainab Azizi, wrote the script and are the directors of 65. In addition to Driver and Greenblatt, Chloe Coleman also appears in the movie.
