“The background performers deserve special recognition because they are the most unafraid and dedicated individuals. According to her, the “crazy” parties “felt so authentic, and I think people were actually having a fantastic time on set.” “new movie from Damien Chazelle, an Oscar-winning director (La La Land).

Featuring grandiose, extravagant party scenes, the star-studded Babylon is set in 1920s Los Angeles, just as Hollywood was transitioning from silent to talkies. Even though the scenes were filmed over several days, Li claims that the fake partying was contagious.

“People partied like it was their first time at this party every single day. The intensity was thrilling and intoxicating. I cherished taking part in it, “she claims. “Nothing ever got dirty. People were quite well-mannered. It appeared as though everyone was high, yet nobody was.”

Li plays Lady Fay Zhu, a fictitious Chinese-American actress who was inspired by real-life trailblazer Anna May Wong, who made history as the first Asian American star in a U.S. television show. Li is a trained dancer best known for the productions Why Women Kill and Sex/Life. She is introduced in the midst of a boisterous party while performing a racy performance while clad in a top hat and tux.

“There are undoubtedly many similarities between her life 100 years ago and my existence now. Of all, people like Anna May Wong and the greats from almost a century ago paved the path for people of colour. And now that a century has passed, we’re still engaged in conflict, “Li argues. “There are still a few minor challenges we must conquer here and there.”

“There were hardly any roles for me when I first started more than ten years ago,” she explains. There were a few Asian American actresses working in the field. Then, there was a lot of commotion beginning around five years ago. Today’s movies and television shows are far more inclusive and diversified. There has been a great deal of motion. Being a part of that during the full development excites me much.”

The additional benefit of being a part of the Babylon cast? It entails using A-list actors like Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt as scene mates.

First of all, she says, “I was very, very lucky to be in the movie with not just a fantastic ensemble, but also some of the most genuine, humble, professional, and nice people. “I wasn’t worried about who it was with; I was simply worried about not looking bad,” the speaker said.

Pitt, 58, who plays silent-movie star Jack Conrad and has a special affinity with Lady Fay Zhu, was a joy to work with, according to Li.

She describes him as incredibly silly and a delight to deal with. “He occasionally makes jokes, and our sequences actually involved a lot of improvisation. I sure hope we get to see Damien’s director’s edit at some point. He had to make many cuts.”

As for Robbie, the task of pulling off a hot on-screen kiss with Li was complicated by some faux snake venom and bite-wound makeup effects. (The scene occurs after Lady Fay Zhu saves Robbie’s character Nellie LaRoy from being bitten on the neck by a snake in the desert by sucking out the poison, before the two have a kiss.
