Margot Robbie Makes ‘Babylon’ L.A. Premiere
Magrot Robbie on the red carpet, the mother-daughter team happily posed while sporting beaming smiles and beautiful black outfits.
Robbie’s dress featured an asymmetrical crossover in the front that complemented her daring knee-length hem and fur-trimmed train. The hooded top revealed her toned tummy.
In a long-sleeved, floor-length dress with a plunging v-neck and a vibrant pattern on the shoulders, Kessler matched her fashionable daughter’s look.
As talkies replace silent films as the dominant form of entertainment in 1920s Hollywood, Robbie portrays aspiring actress Nellie LaRoy.
She is in a star-studded cast that also includes Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde, Jean Smart, Jeff Garlin, Max Minghella, Lukas Haas, Samara Weaving, Eric Roberts, and others. She is in a leading role opposite Brad Pitt.
She discussed the demanding work that went into the movie in an interview with WSJ. Magazine, telling the publication: “Never in my life have I put in so much effort. By the time that assignment was over, [I] was devastated.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last month, Roberts, who plays Robbie’s character’s father in the movie, lauded Robbie for her performance and predicted that she would probably win an Oscar for it.
She provides the most amazing performance I’ve ever seen in Babylon, he said.
The actor compared Robbie’s performances to Elizabeth Taylor and Sandy Dennis’ “great performances” in the 1966 movie Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? He complimented his co-star, saying Robbie’s performance in Babylon is “on that level.”
He continued, “I was blown away by her. “I couldn’t believe how clever she was all the time,”
Dec. 23 marks the release of Babylon.
