The long-awaited release date for Eva Longoria’s directorial debut film Flamin’ Hot has been announced by Searchlight Pictures. Later this year, Hulu will be the only place to watch the film. The movie is based on the life of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos inventor Richard Montanez. The son of a Mexican immigrant, Montanez is portrayed in the film by Jesse Garcia. He was inspired by the tastes of his neighborhood to create Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, which ultimately disrupted the food market for good.

At the age of 18, Montanez obtained a position as a janitor at Frito-Lay and resolved to become “the best janitor Frito-Lay had ever seen.” He took pride in his work and quickly began to learn more about the company’s products and internal operations since he was determined to stand out. When the CEO of the company told every employee to “act like an owner” in the middle of the 1980s in an effort to promote morale, things for him altered. Without any prior knowledge, he called the CEO to sell the idea for a tasty product that would later become known as Flamin Hot Cheetos, making him a household name.

Lewis Colick and Linda Yvette Chávez wrote the script, and Longoria is the director. At the end of the film’s filming in August of last year, Langoria expressed pride in her neighborhood and excitement for the upcoming film, saying, “I’m so honored to have led this team in telling a beautiful story where people can see themselves in these characters and are inspired by the endless beauty and talent that is so rich in our community.” Sharing her excitement she said, “Every day we were on set, I was reminded again and again by our amazing cast and crew that our community is smart, creative, and endlessly talented.”

In the movie, Garcia plays the ebullient Richard Montanez, and Judy is portrayed by Annie Gonzalez. Dennis Haysbert, Emilio Rivera, Tony Shalhoub, who won an Emmy, Matt Walsh, Pepe Serna, Bobby Soto, Jimmy Gonzales, and TikTok star Brice Gonzalez complete the cast. Vanessa Martinez, Fabian Alomar, Mario Ponce, and Hunter Jones are other cast members.

Federico Cantini, the film’s cinematographer, and Marcelo Zarvos, a Brazilian composer, provided the film’s music. The film’s producer is DeVon Franklin of Franklin Entertainment. Flamin Hot is set to draw viewers in to learn more about their favorite food and its creator thanks to its varied cast and crew.
