The franchise took on a new shape with its own universe following the success of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Fans have their attention focused on the Ana de Armas-led Ballerina, despite the fact that Keanu Reeves will shortly be continuing the story in Chapter 4. Unlike the prequel series The Continental, which will tell us the tale of a young Winston, the spin-off is set in the present. Recently, the film’s cinematographer, Duane Charles Manwiller, stated that Prague will be used for some of the action scenes.

Manwiller, best known for films including The Hunger Games, Deja Vu, and Battleship, posted an update on his current endeavor, Sony’s Dakota Johnson-starring Madame Web, on Instagram. He acknowledged that the movie’s filming was finished and provided some details about his upcoming project in the caption. The holidays are now formally ended, he wrote. It’s time to resume work. I was on my way to Prague to work on a small action unit for Lionsgate’s BALLERINA. Another installment of the John Wick series. a tangent.

The Ballerina will see Armas as Rooney, a ballerina assassin on the lookout for her family’s killers. The movie will occur between John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4’s events. Many franchise staples, like Reeves and Ian McShane, will also be seen in the film, according to a prior Collider confirmation.

When John first meets “The Director” (Anjelica Huston) of the Ruska Roma society in the previous film, viewers got a glimpse of the ballerina school. Reeves provided more information about the project at CCXP 2022, saying,

She didn’t fully understand what happened when her father died when she was a little child. Only that her tattooed father was killed by someone who broke into the house. Additionally, if you have a tattoo, something is wrong, as we learned in John Wick.

Len Wiseman, whose previous work includes the Underworld series, Total Recall, and other films, is in charge of the spin-off. Shay Hatten and Emerald Fennell’s script and Shay Hatten’s story serve as the basis for his direction. Huston will play the same part in addition to Armas becoming the lead and the reappearance of Reeves and McShane. Lance Reddick as Charon completes the Ballerina cast, and Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, and Catalina Sandino Moreno will also be seen in an unnamed future project.
