A New Broadway production starring Kristin Chenoweth is in the works! Chenoweth confessed to host Andy Cohen that she is working on a still-secret original Broadway production during her visit on Watch What Happens Live on Monday to promote her new book I’m No Philosopher, But I Got Thoughts: Mini-Meditations for Saints, Sinners, and the Rest of Us.

When asked by a viewer during the discussion if she could give any news about her long-anticipated Tammy Faye Bakker musical, Chenoweth, 54, responded, “There is no update.” That hurts, but I’m digging and working hard on a new project, something completely original for Broadway.

As Cohen reaffirmed that the project Chenoweth is working on is a “completely original new program,” Chenoweth nodded in agreement.

“No, it’s brand new. I’m excited,” the actress added when Cohen, 54, asked whether it is any of her upcoming projects she has previously discussed on Watch What Happens Live.

According to Playbill, Chenoweth last performed on a Broadway stage for eight performances of her play Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls in November 2019. A 2019 Playbill article that mentions the Wicked actor will feature as the late televangelist states that the artist has been creating a musical based on the life of Faye Bakker — who Jessica Chastain portrays in the 2021 movie The Eyes of Tammy Faye — for more than ten years.

Chenoweth suggested on WWHL Monday that the production had been put on indefinite hold at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actress and her fiancé Josh Bryant, who started dating in August 2018 and became engaged in October 2021, announced in July 2022 that they had temporarily postponed their wedding.

Bryant proposed to the Broadway actress on the rooftop of New York City’s Rainbow Room before the two of them later that evening had a celebratory dinner at Fresco by Scotto.

At the time, Chenoweth admitted to the news, “I’ve been the runaway bride.” “I won’t let him go now that I’ve located him. I’ll dash to the altar to meet him.”

Bryant said, “My soul mate and best friend said “YES” to me! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with Kristin since she is my universe and everything to me.”

The two met for the first time in 2016 while Bryant’s band Backroad Anthem was performing at the wedding of Chenoweth’s niece. The soon-to-be pair reconnected when the band was requested to perform at Chenoweth’s nephew’s wedding in 2018, and they began dating in August of that same year.
