A new trailer for Bono & The Edge: A Kind of Homecoming with Dave Letterman, a movie that will follow one of Ireland’s most well-known musical exports as they look to find their way back to a new sound, has just been released on Disney+ in time for St. Patrick’s Day. The documentary will be made available on Disney+ on March 17, 2023, St. Patrick’s Day. A collection of 40 of U2’s most popular songs that have been reimagined and re-recorded, “Songs of Surrender” is the band’s upcoming album that will be published alongside the movie.

The Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville’s movie follows the late-night television stalwart David Letterman on his first trip to Dublin. Nonetheless, Letterman is travelling to Ireland to see Bono and The Edge rather than as a tourist. The movie will feature music from the two musicians at its centre as well as scenes from their long careers, exploring the city that had a significant impact on both of them.

The friendship between Bono and The Edge, which is the foundation of U2, will also be examined in the movie. Their 45-year friendship has produced one of the most significant musical collaborations in the annals of modern music. David Letterman’s own insightful perspective on the duo as musicians and Dublin as a whole has been added to this narrative.

In the new video, Bono speaks in voice-over, emphasizing the energy of the city and how both music and narrative are crucial to the city’s character while providing a peek of the historic Irish city. The Edge then poses the main problem of the movie. When your level of achievement has been reached, where do you turn? The best course of action is to “take it from the top” and start working on the song from scratch, from a completely different perspective.

Both a celebration and a reinvention of the extensive musical repertoire that U2 has given us over the years are planned for the next movie and the record that will be released in conjunction with it. It is also a love letter to the art of composing music and to Dublin, the city that serves as the focal point of the movie.

On March 17, 2023, Bono & The Edge: A Kind of Homecoming with David Letterman will be made available on Disney+. On the same day, the companion CD “Songs Of Surrender” will be made available.
