Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel to work together in this movie

Mother Mary, the next film from director David Lowery, will star Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel. The epic pop melodrama’s narrative was written by Lowery, and he will also serve as its director. A fictional musician played by Hathaway and her fashion designer, played by Coel, will be the subjects of the movie.

Original songs written and produced by Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX will be included in the epic pop melodrama. The upcoming movie will also include a score that Daniel Hart created specifically for it. Hathaway will perform in character while singing in the movie.

Surprisingly, this isn’t her first time playing a musical part. The actress also contributed vocals to the 2012 musical Les Miserables, in which she portrayed Fantine, a made-up character from the 1862 novel of the same name by Victor Hugo that served as the inspiration for the film adaptation.

The actress has previously been in Rachel Getting Married, The Intern, Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, and most recently, She Came to Me, a romantic mystery hailed as a film that defies expectations and stars, Peter Dinklage and Eileen.

Coel is a BAFTA and Emmy-winning actor, dramatist, screenwriter, director, showrunner, and author who will play the musician’s designer. She is famous for both her portrayal as the Dora Milaje fighter Aneka in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a position she claimed she accepted because of Aneka’s sexuality, and for her successful TV series, I May Destroy You.

The Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series was originally awarded to Coel, a black woman. In addition, the actress will appear in the upcoming Amazon comedy Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Childish Gambino co-creator and executive producer Donald Glover.
