The half-shelled heroes are back in action. The first teaser trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, starring Seth Rogen, was unveiled by Paramount Pictures on Monday, offering fans of the venerable brand their first look at the animated picture.

The Turtle brothers set out to capture the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers by heroic acts after years of being shielded from the human world, according to the official synopsis of the film, which is helmed by Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears.

They soon find themselves in over their heads when a mutant army is unleashed on them, it continues. “Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a strange crime syndicate.”

A Tribe Called Quest’s “Can I Kick It” is playing in the background as Leonardo (Nicolas Cantu), Donatello (Micah Abbey), Michelangelo (Shamon Brown Jr.), and Raphael (Brady Noon) are depicted having fun on a rooftop and considering ordering pizza before taking action.

Jackie Chan, widely known for his action roles in The Bear, will voice the Turtles’ best buddy, April O’Neil, while action icon Splinter will be voiced by action star Jackie Chan.

Paul Rudd, Maya Rudolph, and Rose Byrne are among the other celebrities cast as the superheroes’ allies and foes, respectively. Paul Rudd plays Mondo Gecko. Rose Byrne plays Leatherhead. Post Malone will play Ray Fillet, and fellow rapper and actor Ice Cube will play Superfly, who seems to be a completely new character.

The Turtles’ major enemy Shredder is noticeably missing from the lineup, but his minions Bebop and Rocksteady will be voiced by actors Seth Rogen and John Cena.

Genghis Frog, Wignut, and Baxter Stockman will all be played by comedians Hannibal Buress, Natasia Demetriou, and Giancarlo Esposito, respectively.

The film is produced by Rogen, 40, plus Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, and executive produced by Ramsay McBean and Josh Fagen.

When asked about his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles revival in an interview with the A.V. Club in November, Rogen indicated it wouldn’t be your normal action movie.

We managed to make it quite intimate, he remarked. Since it’s an adolescent film, we incorporated many of our own emotions, including shyness, insecurity, and a desire to fit in and be accepted, among other things, into the production.

Rogen launched the title, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, in August after it was originally revealed that he would produce the movie in 2020. He also included the release date on a wall mural.
