The World Health Organization has cautioned that COVID might “reset,” rendering the world’s immunity obsolete.

In its third year of infecting humans, the virus has gotten milder.

Omicron is currently the prevalent form, resulting in a less severe disease, particularly among the vaccinated.

The frequency of hospitalizations is fewer, and patients tend to recover from the virus after some time at home.

However, the WHO has warned that this situation is far from resolved, with the worst-case scenario being the emergence of a totally new Covid virus.

While it is believed that instances will stabilise, vaccinations will continue to function, and the prevalent strain of the virus will remain milder, scientists caution that curveballs are possible.

Governments and scientists, according to the WHO, should be prepared for the “background danger” of Covid evolving in animals and leaping back to people.

“This scenario would basically be a reset, with a fully vulnerable worldwide population,” according to the “plan to terminate the global Covid-19 emergency in 2022.”

“While not expressly included as a planning scenario, this scenario should be regarded a background threat, and all Covid-19 reaction and preparedness capacities should be understood to provide a resilience dividend relevant to that danger.”

However, virologists believe this will not be a major worry because there will still be some protection against the existing virus.

The paper includes three hypothetical Covid futures, ranging from best to worst case scenarios.

The best prognosis is that variations will get milder over time, while immunity will stay strong.

However, the worst-case scenario describes a situation in which a “more virulent and highly transmissible variation evolves against which vaccinations are less effective, and/or immunity against severe sickness and death wanes fast, particularly in the most susceptible groups.”

It comes after Covid was discovered in 29 species, including hamsters, bears, tigers, and gorillas.

Scientists stated earlier this year that a white-tailed deer may have passed on a new version of the virus to people in Canada.

Free Covid testing will be phased out across the UK beginning tomorrow, with England being the first to experience the change.

It comes at a time when Covid cases are still at an all-time high in several regions of the country.

Instead, if the public wants to know if they have the virus or not, they will have to pay roughly £2.

It’s part of Boris Johnson’s goal to “live with Covid” and drive the country ahead without self-isolation and constraints.
