Two parishioners were shot dead by a gunman in a Church in Texas. The incident happened as the gunman started open fire in the Church.
An armed member of the congregation killed the gunman after the incident, the US media reported.
The gunman pulled out a shotgun and started the open fire after he took his position from a pew at West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement.
The incident had happened at around 11:50 local time in the morning when the morning service of the church was being live-streamed on social media.
Video footage was found which showed a gunman stood from a bench and talked to a man nearby, who then starred at another parishioner.
The gunman then began firing he starred on. He then started firing on the man he had talked to.
However, one of the security guards retaliated by firing over the gunman with a handgun. Many other parishioners became alert to attack the shooter.
Police are struggling with the shooter’s purpose of this action. A minister at the church Jack Cummings reported the local news that the actions of the attackers seemed doubtful as he diverted the attention of the security team.
The security team working in the church consists of volunteers and they were licensed to keep firearms.
Jack Cummings said, “They saved a lot of lives today because this thing would have been a massacre otherwise.”
“Place of worship is meant to be sacred, and I am grateful for the church members who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life.”
