Iran’s foreign minister, Javad Zarif issued a statement after Iran missile attacks on US troops and coalition forces.

Javad Zarif said in his tweet that Iran does not seek escalation or war.

In his tweet on Wednesday, he wrote, “Iran took & concluded proportionate measures in self-defense under Article 51 of UN Charter targeting base from which cowardly armed attack against our citizens & senior officials were launched.”

“We do not seek escalation or war, but will defend ourselves against any aggression”, Mr. Zarif said.

According to the United Nations’ Article 51, a member state can defend itself following an armed attack until the Security Council steps in.

However, the US officials hold responsibilities for Gen Soleimani’s death.

Tensions between the United States and Iran intensified in recent weeks when protesters stormed the United States embassy compound in Baghdad.

General Qassem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike last Friday.

Iran promised retaliation for the general’s death leading to concerns of full-scale war in the region.

At least eighty Americans are reportedly killed during Iran missile attacks on US targets at Iraqi military bases today.

According to sources, 80 people killed during Iran missile attacks on US targets in Iraq.

According to Iranian state television, none of Iran’s missiles that attacked US targets intercepted.

Iran has launched 15 missiles against US troops at two Iraqi military bases, Iranian state TV said.

Iranian state television, citing an informed source, said that Iran has 100 other targets in its sights if US takes any retaliatory measures.

According to Iranian army, US must withdraw its troops from the Middle East.

Iran has launched 15 ballistic missiles in retaliation for the US drone strike on an Iranian General Qassem Soleimani.

His killing has raised fears of a wider war in the Middle East.

The missile targeted Al-Asad airbase in Iraq which houses US & coalition forces.

However, this is a direct route to war between Iran and US.
