Saudi Arabia has imposed complete lockdown in the country on Eid-ul-Fitr; from Ramadan 30 to Shawwal 4. The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that a 24-hour nationwide lockdown will be imposed for five days.
Saudi Arabia has 42,925 confirmed cases out of which 264 people have died whereas 15,257 have recovered. There are 27,404 active cases in Saudi Arabia.
The decision has been taken under the directives by King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz. As per the directives, the ministry will coordinate with other competent authorities to monitor lockdown measures and how people are following precautionary measures. In addition to this, the ministry will also supervise updates and amendments.
According to details, several economic and commercial activities will be performed from Ramadan 21, May 14 till Ramadan 29, May 22 while considering precautionary measures.
As per the instructions, all the residents will be permitted to go outside their homes from 9 am to 5 am if necessary, except for in Makkah.
However, Saudi Arabia will impose a complete lockdown from Ramadan 30 to Shawwal 4. People will be asked to keep maintaining social distancing. Gathering more than 5 people will not be allowed.
Companies in the private sector are allowed by a Saudi ministerial decision on Monday to reduce salaries by 40 percent. In addition to this, it has also allowed termination of contracts due to the economic crisis occurring because of coronavirus pandemic.
According to a local newspaper, the cabinet will not publish the new decision.
