More than 900,000 US Military service members vaccinated against COVID-19

More than 916,500 service members of United States military has been administered with the vaccine against the novel coronavirus so far, said Pentagon Spokesperson John Kirby.

According to the Pentagon Spokesperson John Kirby despite of the administration of jabs on massive scale amid the rising rate of infections, still one-third service members of the U.S. military is declining to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Pentagon Spokesperson John Kirby said more than 916,500 had been administered so far. Kirby said the level of refusal is on par with that of the general population, where the vaccine has not been offered nearly as widely.

“We in the military basically mirror the acceptance rates of American society,” Kirby said. The government has tapped the military and National Guard to help vaccinate the general public people.

Kirby said that by the end of this week, more than one million members of the military will have received vaccine shots.

The official data of Department of Defense said recently that  a cumulative of 237,561 servicemen in U.S. force has been infected with coronavirus, and 281 were dead.
