Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will pay an official visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 11 (Thursday), which was earlier postponed over travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The visit of Netanyahu to the UAE will help establish economic ties with the Gulf states.

According to media reports, Isreal’s premier will hold talks with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman is anticipated to join both the leaders.

Netanyahu, on the other hand, may hold a meeting with his Sudanese counterpart Abdalla Hamdok while in the UAE.

Earlier, the Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu had planned to visit Abu Dhabi and Manama, which would have been his first official visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Gulf countries in September 2020.

Israel had signed an agreement with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates in September to normalize diplomatic relations.

A statement from Netanyahu’s office had said, “Despite the importance of the visit to Abu Dhabi and Bahrain, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to postpone the visit due to travel restrictions.”

Furthermore, Israel had closed its airport to air traffic to avert the new strain of the deadly virus outbreak.

Previously, in September 2020, the UAE, along with Bahrain and Israel, had signed a US-brokered agreement to normalize ties.
