A 15-year-old girl and her mother were raped’: Ukrainians who managed to evacuate war-torn towns disclose horrible crimes 

Refugees fleeing besieged Ukrainian cities have described intoxicated Russian troops breaking down doors to pillage their homes and dragging women out to rape them.

A grandma in Irpin, 13 miles north of Kyiv, said she witnessed six troops raping a mother and her 15-year-old daughter.

Anna Schevchenko, 63, called Russian soldiers “animals” and accused the Kremlin of war crimes, telling MailOnline: “You would not believe what we have been through there.”

‘The Russians were beasts. They shot those who were attempting to flee and then abandoned them on the street.

‘Drunk Russians knocked down cellar doors, dragged women out, and raped them.’ Several troops raped a 15-year-old girl and her mother.

‘They’re animals,’ says the narrator. They irritate me. The Russians shot one of my neighbours in the back of the head after he shot a stray dog to eat because we were starving.

‘But they saw his hands and assumed he was shooting at them, so they killed him despite the fact that he was an old guy.’

Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has accused Russia of perpetrating crimes in Bucha and Irpin on the outskirts of Kiev, where at least 410 innocent citizens were slain in the bloodbath, their remains abandoned by the roadsides and in basements where they sought refuge from the bombardment.

Mykola Kovalenko, 71, has just fled Bucha, where he was caught up in fierce conflict.

‘I believed I’d never see my family again,’ he said. ‘They shot those who were attempting to flee.’ I saw bodies on the street after tanks had ran them over.

‘Putin must be held accountable for what his men have done.’ I noticed an elderly woman who had been shot in a nearby residence. What possible harm could she have caused them?

‘They also raped a lot of women.’ It was a living horror.’

One resident in Bovary, east of Kyiv, reportedly said that inebriated Russians had plundered, battered, and raped people.

‘They hauled ladies out while they were inebriated,’ recalled Olga Bundarov, 58. Sometimes it’s old ladies as well. I had to hide because I was terrified.

‘One of my neighbours observed numerous ladies who had been raped and hung.’

‘I don’t know if the Russians did it or if they committed suicide as a result of what they had done.’

David Zhvania, a 21-year-old special forces soldier from Geogia, was recovering in Kyiv after fighting in the strongly fortified city of Mariupol.

‘It’s hell there,’ said David, who volunteered to fight. You get a couple bullets in before all hell breaks out and you have to take shelter from all the Russian fire.

‘It’s a nightmare there. I witnessed dead ladies and children in the street. Even infants. Putin has a lot of things to answer for.

‘I came because I was afraid he would do to Georgia what he did to us.’

Despite the evacuation of the Russians, nightly air raid sirens and distant bombing can still be heard throughout Kyiv.

There are few open stores or cafés, and military barricades line the highways.
