Here’s why Russia has lost so many tanks in the Ukraine War

After more than a month in Ukraine, Russian soldiers have encountered fierce opposition. Many people predicted that the war would be ended in a matter of days due to the numerical superiority of the Russian forces and the sophistication of their weaponry.

It turned out that this was not the case at all. It was becoming more and more difficult for the Ukrainians to fight back against the Russians as they approached the capital city of Kyiv.

Russians have suffered a huge loss of tanks in this battle.

Are there any records on the number of Russian tanks destroyed?

More than 680 Russian tanks have been reported lost by Ukrainian forces on social media.

Russian losses in Ukraine are being tracked by the military and intelligence site Oryx, which uses images from the front lines to count down how many armoured vehicles and tanks the Russian military has lost.

According to a press release from the Rand Corporation and the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), Russia possessed about 2,700 tanks prior to the outbreak of the Ukrainian conflict.

There are so many Russian tanks destroyed by Ukraine, how did they do it?

The weapons supplied by western countries, notably the United States, played a significant role in the victory.

When the crisis began, the United States provided Ukraine with 2,000 anti-tank Javelin missiles, and it subsequently transferred another 2,000.

The Ukrainian army have been able to inflict significant damage on Russian tanks and artillery with this small but deadly weapon.

Upon launch, the missile self-directs to its intended target, allowing the gunner to find cover and escape counterfire or reload a new missile, as per Lockheed Martin.

As a result, the opponent will have a hard time figuring out where it came from.

At the top of the tank, where the armour is thought to be the weakest, the Javelins burst.

As well as American NLAW and Starstreak missiles, Britain also deployed Starstreak missiles to assist Ukraine in taking down Russian drones.

The BBC reports that the United States is currently providing Ukraine with 100 Switchblade anti-tank drones.
