This war’s courage stories abound. Animals have helped save residents from invading Russian forces. Among them is 2-year-old ‘Patron,’ the Jack Russell Terrier hero in Ukraine for detecting deadly explosives.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) shared a video of “Patron” on Facebook, claiming that the dog has already cleaned up to 90 explosive devices.
“News from Patron! Our militant dog – the mascot of Chernihiv pyrotechnicians continues to serve! Since the beginning of the war, he and SES sappers have cleared almost 90 explosive devices. Thank you, my friend, for your tireless work!” SES posted an English translation of the video on Facebook in March.
Dogs have been used in combat zones for ages to accomplish diverse tasks. His detection of bombs and landmines throughout the country has saved many lives.
The Jack Russel Terrier was developed in England 200 years ago to hunt foxes. The Parson Russell Terrier is a smart, independent, and easy-to-train canine breed. This small pup’s vigour has made it a favourite of the Ukrainian military.
‘Patron’ quickly gained popularity on social media.
“This dog is just a miracle. Please take care of yourself and him! Glory to Ukraine!” a Facebook user commented on the SES page. “Glory to heroes! Patron is among them,” said another with a lot of heart emojis in the colours of Ukraine’s flag.
“Best Influencer Dog ever. Big Inspiration in Bad times,” said another.
Another user shared a hand-drawn Patron.
