HORRIFIC MOMENT: Sobbing passengers pray as they brace for an emergency landing that sends sparks shooting from the plane

A TERRIFYING video shows people crying and praying as they prepare for an emergency landing.

Following the mid-air drama in Colombia, sparks flashed beneath the plane as it touched down.

The video was taken on Tuesday, when Latam aircraft 4292 from Medellin to Cartagena experienced a breakdown on one of the nose landing gear wheels.

According to local media, the pilot discovered one of the tyres had ruptured minutes after takeoff.

The captain reported the situation to the control tower and was instructed to return to Jose Maria Cordova International Airport and make an emergency landing.

While firemen and medical teams prepared for the plane’s arrival, the airport was closed.

After the captain explained the issue over the intercom, passengers were left afraid for their lives.

The plane’s broken front landing gear is visible, causing sparks to fly as it touches down and scrapes down the runway.

The jet touched down on the runway at 3.12 p.m., with no injuries reported.

Several scheduled flights were cancelled as a result of the airport shutdown, which lasted more than four hours.

The authorities stated that no passengers had been reported harmed and that the plane had sustained no more damage.

The passengers were able to depart the plane safely, while technical teams investigated the malfunctioning landing gear and began the cleanup operation to remove the debris left on the runway.
