After Russia’s defence ministry confirmed that their flagship was’seriously damaged,’ Ukrainian officials hailed a big missile success.

Russian officials have confessed that the damage was caused by an explosion onboard the Moskva, the country’s Black Sea Fleet’s flagship.

They did not explain what caused the fire, only that it was being investigated.

Ukraine, on the other hand, claims that the 186m-long warship was hit by one of its Neptune missiles.

Oleksiy Arestovych, a presidential assistant in Ukraine, claimed Russian rescuers were unable to approach the vessel, which might have had up to 510 crew members on board.

“It has been established that the missile cruiser Moskva today went exactly where our border guards on Snake Island sent it!” stated Odesa regional governor Maksym Marchenko in a Telegram message.

It comes only weeks after a Soviet-era ship opened fire on 13 recalcitrant border guards assigned to safeguard Snake Island.

After being requested to surrender, Ukrainian soldiers earlier instructed Russians on board the Moskva to “go f**k yourself.”

The stubborn border guards were charged with defending Zmiinyi, or Snake, Island in the Black Sea against Russian invaders.

The gallantry of the border guards captured the world’s attention, and many were moved by their bravery in the face of death.
