According to one of the UK’s top intelligence officers, Russian soldiers are refusing to accept instructions from superiors and have even shot down their own aircraft.
Sir Jeremy Fleming, the chief of GCHQ, sees the invasion as “Putin’s war,” and claims that Russian troops are running short on both weaponry and morale.

Based on the intelligence he has gathered thus far, the chief spy is scheduled to deliver a closed-door address about Russia’s faltering invasion of Ukraine on Thursday during a trip to Australia.

“We’ve seen Russian soldiers – short of weaponry and morale – refuse to carry out instructions, destroying their own equipment, and even unintentionally shooting down their own aircraft,” Sir Fleming would tell the audience at the Australian National University.

“And, while we believe Putin’s aides are scared to tell him the truth, what’s going on and the magnitude of these errors must be evident to the government.”

“It all adds up to the geopolitical blunder that Western officials warned Putin about.” It’s become his personal battle, with innocent people in Ukraine and, increasingly, regular Russians bearing the penalty.”

He further warns that Russian cyber attackers will be “searching for targets” in nations that disagree with Mad Vlad’s behaviour.

An early draught of the speech continues to discuss how Putin’s top aides are too afraid to tell him the truth about what is really going on in Ukraine.

Finally, Wagner, a private military corporation with alleged Kremlin ties, might be used as “cannon fodder” by Putin as he frantically tries to salvage his invasion.

“Recently, we have noticed that Wagner appears to be taking it up a notch,” Sir Fleming is expected to remark.

“They are considering moving soldiers from other battlefields as well as recruiting new fighters to increase their numbers.” These men will most likely be deployed as cannon fodder in an effort to minimise Russian military casualties.”
