According to Statistica, Russia has the world’s greatest supply of nuclear weapons, with approximately 6,257 nuclear warheads, including 1,458 operational weapons, 3,039 ready for deployment, and 1,760 decommissioned. During the first week of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin placed the country’s nuclear weapons forces on high alert.

“Western nations are not just conducting unfriendly economic moves against our country,” he added, adding that “leaders of important NATO countries are making harsh remarks against our country.”

“As a result, I direct that Russia’s deterrent forces be assigned to a special duty regime.”

This sparked global concern over the possibility of a nuclear attack, and analysts believe it is still unknown if Putin would carry out a nuclear assault after a month.

Fears that Russia will launch a nuclear attack have grown after Putin was spotted with his “nuclear football” briefcase while touring Belarus earlier this week.

The black suitcase, which has the capability of launching a nuclear assault remotely, was observed being carried by one of Putin’s staff as they came to visit Belarusian tyrant Alexander Lukashenko.

The identical suitcase was observed being carried by Putin last week when he visited the burial of a far-right leader in a Moscow Cathedral.

Putin warned that Russia would never again rely on the West, and he was certain of his choice to attack Ukraine.

“Its intentions are completely obvious and honourable,” he remarked. It’s obvious that we didn’t have much of a choice. It was the correct choice.”

Russia possesses a “Dead Hand” system, also known as the Cold War “Perimeter” system, which is regarded to be the most deadly nuclear system on the planet.

It is a self-sustaining control system, which implies that if Russia is attacked with nuclear weapons, it will respond with a nuclear strike.

According to some sources, the system can carry up to 30 of the world’s most lethal nuclear bombs and fire them all at once.

Sergei Karakaev, a Russian officer, stated in 2011 that the Perimeter system was still operational.

“Yes, the Perimeter system exists today – she is on combat duty,” he told KP.RU.

“And when the necessity for a retaliatory attack comes, and there is no means to transmit a signal to some area of the launchers, this command might come from these Perimeter missiles.”

According to the Federation of American Scientists, the majority of Russia’s nuclear weapons are stationed to the country’s west.

Russia has around 20 recognised missile sites, including the coastal Darazhnya and Pervomaysk.

Following the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia boosted its nuclear stockpile.

The United States possesses a nuclear arsenal of 5,600 warheads, and Russia and the United States control almost 93 percent of all nuclear weapons on the planet.

Under Trident, the United Kingdom now has 225 nuclear bombs, 120 of which are ready for deployment.

China, France, Pakistan, India, Israel, and North Korea are the other six countries known to have nuclear weapons.
