Yesterday, the sinking of Russia’s flagship missile cruiser, the Moskva, was heralded as a terrible loss for the country.

And, just 24 hours later, it has emerged that the massive ship, which was seriously damaged in a Ukrainian strike off the shore of Sevastopol, really carried numerous nuclear warheads.

Despite the absence of confirmation, BlackSeaNews editor-in-chief Andriy Klymenko has urged for an immediate international investigation into whether the Moskva was carrying nuclear weapons.

“Friends and specialists claim there are two nuclear cruise missile warheads on board the Moskva,” he stated.

“Perhaps this is new knowledge for many, but it is real – the vessel is a nuclear weapon carrier.”

Russia first claimed that the ship was destroyed due to munitions “exploding,” resulting in a fire on board.

However, no one, particularly Mr Klymenko, believed this assertion.

“Where are these warheads?” he continued. What were they doing when the ammo detonated?

“What are the coordinates for the spot on the map?”

“This is within the purview of the UN Security Council and the IAEA.”

“On board the Moskva might be nuclear weapons – two units,” said Mykhailo Samus, deputy director of the Lviv-based Centre for Army Studies, Conversion, and Disarmament.

“They’d be in a safe position, so they’re unlikely to have been destroyed by the explosion.”
Despite Russian reports of a fire, prominent Russian filmmaker Vladimir Bortko may have shown that the ship was sunk by Ukrainians.

Overnight, on national Russian television, he delivered an emotional and heartfelt statement about the ship on a panel discussion show.

During his diatribe, which has now gone viral on social media, he said that the sinking of the ship was a “true casus belli” for war with Ukraine.

The term “casus belli” comes from Latin and means “an act or incident that either triggers or is used to justify a war.”
