One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a shooting at Middle Tennessee State University during a high school graduation ceremony on Wednesday night, according to police in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The gunman is still on the run, according to Sergeant Dan Goodwin of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and should be regarded as armed and dangerous.
According to local media, a helicopter was flying above the gunshot site while police searched for the perpetrator.
The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. local time near the tennis courts outside Middle Tennessee State University’s sports facility, according to Sgt. Goodwin.
He stated that shots were fired as people were exiting the Murphy Center after a high school graduation ceremony. There was one fatality. Another individual who was shot was seriously injured.
Riverdale High School’s high school graduation will be held on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University, according to a spokeswoman from Rutherford County Schools.

He wouldn’t say whether the gunshot victims were students. He announced that Riverdale High School would be closed on Thursday.
The shooting resulted in a lockdown at Middle Tennessee State University. The school warned students and anybody in the neighbourhood to take cover.
