Three foreigners were detained by Cambodian anti-drug police on Wednesday for allegedly making, possessing, and trafficking more than 30 kg of illicit substances, according to the National Police.
One suspect was detained at a condo in Phnom Penh’s capital, while two others were apprehended in Preah Sihanouk’s coastline region, police said, adding that they were all male and arrested on May 18.
The National Police claimed on its website that the trio was arrested with 30.4 kg of drugs and 56.5 kg of ingredients.
According to police, the substances collected included heroin, ecstasy, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine, and nimetazepam.
Drug dealers in the Southeast Asian country do not face the death penalty.
Anyone convicted of trafficking more than 80 grams of narcotics might get a life sentence under the statute.
During the first four months of 2022, Cambodian police apprehended 4,602 drug suspects, including 66 foreigners, seizing 1.55 tonnes of illicit substances and 173 tonnes of chemicals, according to the Anti-Drug Police Department.
