SEATTLE, WA – The world’s first permanent NFT art museum has opened in Seattle, with the goal of “pulling back the curtain” on blockchain-based digital art.

NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are a type of digital asset that has recently exploded in popularity, with NFT artworks fetching millions of dollars. NFTs are based on a blockchain, which is a distributed ledger of transactions.

The museum, which debuted on January 14, has been offering a physical space for artists, makers, and collectors to exhibit their NFTs while also educating the public about this relatively new market for digital art.

Jennifer Wong, a co-founder and curator of Seattle NFT Museum, said, “We really understood the significance of being able to look at this type of art in a way where you actually slow down, you notice all the nuances.”

On April 16, local digital artist Maksim Surguy attended the inauguration of the museum’s ‘Climate Conversation’ exhibition, which displays his creations that may be printed in real form as well as sold as NFTs online.
