
Norfolk police are investigating a homicide Monday on Fremont Street in the Olde Huntersville area.
Police said a man was pronounced dead after being found shot in the 800 block of Fremont Street. They responded around 10:40 a.m.
No other details are available at this time, including suspect information. Neighbors reported hearing a lot of shots. Bullets hit a nearby home and a car.
“I’m in fear. I just want something to be done,” said Carlos Fontanez, a neighbor.
Community activist Clayton Marquez from a group called Guns Down put up an anti-violence sign up about a block away from the scene of the shooting. “It’s very disheartening that we’re losing so many lives out here,” said Marquez.
Since last Wednesday, ten people have been killed in shootings in Hampton Roads, including two people in Suffolk, two people in Chesapeake, two people in Portsmouth, one person in Hampton, and now three in Norfolk.
