Russia reported on Thursday that its artillery shelled several Ukrainian outposts and strongholds overnight, killing around 600 fighters.

“The armed forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation in Ukraine”, the defence ministry said. “Over 600 nationalists and 61 units of weapons and military equipment were destroyed”.

According to the defence ministry, its missiles also destroyed aviation equipment at the Kanatovo airfield in Ukraine’s central Kirovohrad region, as well as massive ammunition storage in the southern city of Mykolaiv.

On February 24, Russia dispatched tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in what it dubbed a “special operation” to damage its southern neighbor’s military capabilities and weed out outdangerous nationalists.

Ukraine’s soldiers have resisted, and the West has placed broad sanctions on Russia in an attempt to persuade it to remove its troops.
