As international leaders convened in Europe to debate additional penalties against Moscow, Russian missiles launched on Sunday damaged an apartment complex and an area near a kindergarten in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. U.S. President Joe Biden referred to the attacks as “barbarism.”

In the early hours, up to four explosions rocked central Kyiv, the city’s first such strike in weeks.

“Again, the Russians attacked Kiev. A kindergarten and an apartment complex were both destroyed by missiles “said the president’s administration’s top official, Andriy Yermak.

In a kindergarten with broken windows, a photographer noticed a sizable bomb crater next to the playground.

Six people were hurt, according to Deputy Mayor Mykola Povoroznyk. He claimed that later explosions heard in other districts of Kiev were caused by air defences shooting down other approaching missiles.

The Western coalition supporting Kyiv was beginning to show signs of strain as officials worry about the rising economic cost as Europe’s largest land battle since World War Two reached its fifth month.
