Britain is willing to help with demining efforts off the southern coast of Ukraine and is thinking about providing insurance to ships transporting millions of tonnes of grain impounded in the nation.
During a trip to Rwanda for a Commonwealth summit, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the same thing in an interview.
When asked if Britain was prepared to assist Ukraine in demining the area, Johnson responded, “I don’t want to get into the technical or military details, but you can take it from what we have already done in supplying equipment to the Ukrainians to help themselves protect that we are certainly talking to them at a technical level to help demine Odesa.”
As mentioned, Russia has prevented Ukraine from receiving more than 20 million tonnes of grain.
“It is absolutely unconscionable. That supply could help people around the world, it could help some of the poorest countries in the world,” the British PM said.
