Kaitlin Armstrong pleads not guilty in court
Kaitlin Armstrong, accused of killing a top cyclist out of envy, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.
The hearing began at 12:30 CT after a delay. Austin reporter pled guilty to murder and theft.
Armstrong has a $3.5 million bond for murder and theft.
Anna Moriah Wilson was shot and killed in Austin before a cycling race. A woman is accused of murder.
A yoga teacher and realtor from Livonia, Michigan, used the name “Ari” in Costa Rica. Her immigration status was questioned on June 29. 43 days after Austin police issued a murder warrant, she ran.
Armstrong’s lawyer, Rick Cofer, said cops only told half the story.
“Mo” was shot by Armstrong in Austin, Texas, on May 11, 2022. Police said Wilson however shot in a friend’s bathroom. Her friend heard 911 around 10 p.m.
Professional cyclist Strickland told authorities he deleted text conversations and masked Wilson’s name to prevent Armstrong from blocking his number.
While Strickland was seeing Wilson, Armstrong told her he was dating her. A source says Armstrong warned Wilson about Strickland.
Another anonymous caller said she was with Armstrong in January 2022 when he “just found out Strickland was seeing Wilson while he was dating Strickland.”
Armstrong sold her black Jeep Grand Cherokee on May 13, a day after she was freed. The car was near where Wilson however shot. Her SUV sold at CarMax in Austin for $12,200.
Warrants say Armstrong and her sister had $450,000.
Armstrong was wanted for murder but charged with illegal departure in May. Later, charge decreased.
