Paul Pelosi, the husband of former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has provided testimony against David DePape, the man accused of attacking him in his San Francisco home last year.

DePape faces charges, including attempted kidnapping of a federal official, and has pleaded not guilty. Pelosi revealed that DePape was motivated by conspiracies about Mrs. Pelosi and expressed intentions to harm her during the assault.

DePape allegedly broke into the Pelosi home with a hammer, seeking Mrs. Pelosi, and attacked Mr. Pelosi when she was not present.

The incident, captured on body camera footage, resulted in Pelosi spending six days in the hospital with injuries, including a fractured skull.

DePape could face up to 50 years in prison for the charges. His defense claims he believed in conspiracy theories but denies a political motive, while prosecutors argue he had a violent plan targeting Mrs. Pelosi. D

DePape is also facing separate state charges, including attempted murder, assault, and burglary, which could lead to a life sentence if convicted. He has pleaded not guilty to these charges as well.
