Government schools in Ras Al Khaimah ordered to switch to remote learning on November 17 due to unstable weather conditions, as directed by the emirate’s Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management team.

Private schools’ plans remain uncertain. The National Centre of Meteorology reported heavy rains, including on Jebel Jais, the country’s highest peak, with Storm Centre’s videos revealing reduced visibility in the emirate.

Ras Al Khaimah’s crisis management team is on high alert, urging authorities to activate business continuity measures to ensure essential services remain unaffected.

Anticipating lightning, thunder, and varying intensities of rain across the east, north, and coastal areas in the next 48 hours, the UAE Ministry of Interior advises residents to reduce speeds and avoid flood-prone areas and beaches.

New regulations, implemented earlier this year, impose fines up to Dh2,000, 23 black points, and vehicle confiscation for entering flooded valleys or dams during adverse weather. This follows a recent 28-day stretch of rainfall in the country.

On October 27, due to unstable weather, private and government schools shifted to online classes overnight, with heavy rains the previous day causing early class dismissals and flooded bus bays.
