KARACHI: A sub-inspector was martyred in firing by unidentified gunmen near Super Highway in Karachi.
According to the reports, a sub-inspector posted at Gulshan-e-Maymar police station in Karachi was shot dead by unknown miscreants. This is the fifth attack on police personnel in a month in which four personnel have been killed.
According to police, sub-inspector Yar Mohammad Gulshan was posted at Maymar police station. The deceased was on his way home on a motorcycle.
According to police officials, the unidentified motorcyclists targeted the officer on the Northern Bypass and the culprits were managed to escape.
IG Sindh took note of the martyrdom of a policeman in the Northern Bypass firing and demanded an immediate report from SSP Malir.
It is to be noted that the police personnel of different police stations of Karachi ignored the orders of Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon and despite the prohibition, they continue to wear uniform on arrival and departure of duty.
The police chief had issued orders on the targeting of policemen by terrorists that no officer would wear a uniform while on duty and on his way home and would go home in plain clothes.
Ghulam Nabi Memon said that departmental action would be taken against the policeman who was found violating the orders.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, ASI Ghulam Mohammad was shot dead and the accused took Ghulam Mohammad’s weapon with him after the murder. In all the incidents, police personnel were targeted after identification.
ASI Ghulam Muhammad was posted at the Artillery Maidan police station in the investigation department.
Furthermore, it was reported that he lived in Lines Area and was attacked at a paan stall in the same area.
Witnesses told that the attacker approached him and opened fire after asking his name. The officer died on the spot.
Witnesses said the attacker fled on a motorcycle after the attack. He reportedly stole ASI Muhammad’s official weapon before fleeing.
Earlier, 15 officer Noman was martyred in Mahmoodabad. The accused took Noman’s weapon with them after the murder while policeman Asghar was martyred in Korangi and the accused also took weapons in this incident.
