Karachi Circular Railway Rehabilitation Date Announced

Big news came out for the people of Karachi, Pakistan Railways announced the date of restoration of Karachi Circular Railway.

According to a railway spokesperson, Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) is being restored in phases from November 16. Initially, KCR will run from Pipri to Landhi and Orangi.

A spokesman for the railways said that 4 trains would leave from Pipri and 4 from Orangi in May. Train departure times will be 7 and 10 a.m. and 1 and 4 p.m.

A spokesman for the railways said that the fare for a full journey of 60 km would be Rs 50.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a written order regarding the restoration of Karachi Circular Railway in August this year.

Court order stated the Supreme Court has approved the proposal of the Sindh government to hire Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to construct the circular railway underpasses.

The court order said that the work of laying the track for the circular railway should be continued and fences should be erected on both the sides of the track.

The court has directed to complete the construction of underpasses for FWO Circular Railway in six months.

The court order also directed to immediately remove all obstacles in the rehabilitation of Karachi Circular Railway and to continue other works jointly by Pakistan Railways and Sindh government.

It may be recalled that during the hearing of the case related to the restoration of Karachi Circular Railway at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry on August 10, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed had directed the Secretary Railways that the circular railway should run this year.
