The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Saturday ordered the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to demolish illegal constructions in the Mujahid Colony.

The court ordered that action should be taken exclusively against structures that do not align with the master plan in place for the area.

In response to the court’s directives, the KDA submitted its answer, underscoring the fact that these illegal constructions had encroached upon a 150-feet wide road within Mujahid Colony, thereby violating the established master plan.

The case took a decisive turn when the residents of Mujahid Colony, who had earlier filed a petition, expressed their willingness to cooperate.

Their counsel informed the court that they had no objections to the KDA demolishing those structures that contravened the master plan, signaling a commitment to upholding the legal framework.

The origins of this legal battle can be traced back to the residents’ efforts to challenge the KDA’s actions in removing encroachments within Mujahid Colony.
